This Week’s Gaming Laptop Deals Just Dropped!

Hello deal hunters!

The best gaming laptop deals of the week are here:

This Week’s Best Deals

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7640HS

GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4060

RAM: 16GB DDR5-5600

Display: 16” 1920 × 1200 144Hz

SSD: 512GB

$849.99 at Best Buy
Save $500 (37%)
Was $1349.99

Comments: This isn’t the first time this deal has come around, but it’s still a good one for the price.

Full disclosure, the screen isn’t ideal as it has a lower 45% NTSC color gamut. In other words the colors look a bit dull compared to more expensive laptops, but that’s the compromise.

If you don’t mind that and just want great bang for buck performance, then $850 for a Zen 4 processor + RTX 4060 with decent build quality is hard to beat.

Of course the screen wouldn’t be an issue for those that plan to dock the laptop and connect a monitor 😀

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7535HS

GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4050

RAM: 16GB DDR5

Display: 15.6” 1920 × 1080 144Hz

SSD: 512GB

$699.99 at Best Buy
Save $250 (26%)
Was $949.99

Comments: This is the cheapest RTX 4050 gaming laptop that we’ve listed for a while. Despite that, it still comes with 16 gigs of RAM rather than 8.

Yeah, like most of the cheapest options the screen color might not be optimal. They don’t actually specify it, so I’d assume it’s not impressive.

But most other laptops this price tend to have older graphics from last gen, like RTX 2050 or 3050. Compared to those, the 4050 here is good value, while the chassis is better quality compared to others like MSI’s GF63 for a similar price.

CPU: Intel Core i9-13900HX

GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4080

RAM: 32GB DDR5-5600

Display: 16” 2560 × 1600 240Hz

SSD: 1TB SSD

$1999.99 at B&H
Save $750 (27%)
Was $2749.99

Comments: We’ve had this laptop listed on the site for months now, but they made it an even better deal by lowering it another $50 a few days ago.

B&H recently added the 14th gen Legion laptops at a higher price. We get the impression that they’re trying to clear older stock, as they stopped listing some configurations once they sold out.

From our testing, RTX 4080 laptop graphics offer a huge 55% FPS boost compared to the RTX 4070 at 1440p. The 4080 can really be worth it for a few hundred dollars more compared to a 4070 if you want to take things to the next level.

These are some nice deals – but sales change over time. Our https://gaminglaptop.deals website is updated multiple times a day, so check it out regularly to save money 🤑

Video of the Week

In this week’s laptop review we covered Gigabyte’s G6X – their “budget” gaming laptop option.

At least, it’s meant to be. Unfortunately there are too many negatives with this laptop for its current price, so definitely check this out if you’ve been considering it 👇

Tip of the Week

Which CPU brand should you get in your new gaming laptop – Intel or AMD?

This generation, performance is surprisingly a bit of a tie. Intel might do better in some workloads, while AMD might be ahead in others. But once you average a bunch of different tasks or games, the difference is fairly negligible.

Intel typically has the edge when it comes to single core performance, and they have options with more cores and threads. Intel usually ends up being less power efficient, as their chips need higher power levels to reach those higher levels of performance.

This may be why, generally speaking, AMD based gaming laptops last longer on battery power. That isn’t always the case, and Intel’s Meteor Lake processors have started to change this. We have 240+ laptop battery tests published here, and there’s a clear trend of AMD Ryzen laptops coming out on top.

For now, AMD based gaming laptops tend to have better integrated graphics performance. This won’t be important to most gamers as you’ll be using the more powerful discrete graphics, but some people like to run less demanding games on battery with the iGPU.

Ultimately you can’t really go wrong with AMD or Intel laptop processors at the moment. The difference has been much bigger in the past, but not in 2023-2024.

Source: I compared AMD’s Ryzen 7 7840HS against Intel’s Core i7-13700H. Technically these aren’t the newest processors anymore, but Ryzen 8X4X processors and Intel 14th gen are essentially the same as last gen.

Top Weekly Gaming Laptop Deals!

Hello deal hunters!

The best gaming laptop deals for the week are here:

This Week’s Best Deals

CPU: Intel Core i7-13700HX

GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4070

RAM: 16GB DDR5-4800

Display: 16” 2560 × 1600 240Hz

SSD: 1TB

$1299.99 at Best Buy
Save $500 (28%)
Was $1799.99

Comments: I was excited to see this deal return! It’s not the cheapest RTX 4070 laptop, that goes to the HP Victus 16 this week for $150 less, but it’s priced well for a more premium option.

Lenovo’s Legion Pro series is just a great all round option from our testing with nice build quality, software, features and performance.

CPU: Intel Core i7-13650HX

GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4060

RAM: 16GB DDR5-4800

Display: 15.6” 1920 × 1080 165Hz

SSD: 1TB

$899.99 at Dell
Save $250 (22%)
Was $1149.99

Comments: Yeah, we had this deal a couple of weeks ago – but it’s back, and one of the better RTX 4060 options currently available this week.

The only cheaper option we’ve got listed currently is the Acer Nitro V for $50 less, but the Dell has a better processor, screen, build quality, and double the SSD space – easily worth the extra.

CPU: Intel Core i9-13900HX

GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4080

RAM: 16GB DDR5

Display: 16” 2560 × 1600 240Hz

SSD: 1TB SSD

$1749.99 at Best Buy
Save $550 (24%)
Was $2299.99

Comments: We highlighted Acer’s Helios 16 with RTX 4080 graphics as a great deal in last week’s email – but now it’s $50 cheaper.

Granted, the older B&H deal (which has since ended) came with double the RAM, so you’d end up spending about the same amount in total if you wanted to upgrade to 32GB.

This deal is also through Best Buy though, rather than B&H, who have a better return policy.

In this week’s laptop review we covered Lenovo’s Legion 5 – one of the best mid-range gaimng laptops back in 2022.

Last year in 2023 they replaced it with the Legion Slim 5, but now it’s back in 2024 alongside the Slim 5 version, and I compare the two here. Check it out 👇

Tip of the Week

Keep your gaming laptop cool!

Heat kills hardware, so this is important to help your laptop last as long as possible.

If your laptop has vents underneath, make sure they’re not blocked. If you can see dust, it’s time to open it up for a clean.

Using your laptop on a flat surface like a desk is the way to go. Avoid using it on something soft like a bed, as this blocks the fans and may result in higher temperatures.

Higher temperatures can result in thermal throttling (worse performance) and a hotter feeling machine, which is just uncomfortable during those long gaming sessions.

A cooling pad is a good way to improve airflow, but based on our testing, a cheaper basic stand gets you most of the benefits.

Another Week of Gaming Laptop Deals Just Dropped!

Hello deal hunters!

Welcome to the second edition of the Gaming Laptop Deals weekly newsletter!

We didn’t see any incredible deals for Memorial Day to justify an extra email, so we’ve instead waited to see what new deals would spawn after – Let’s get into it!

This Week’s Best Deals

Lenovo LOQ (2024)

GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4060

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7435HS

RAM: 16GB DDR5-4800

Display: 15.6” 1920 × 1080 144Hz

SSD: 512GB

$799.99 at Best Buy
Save $200 (20%)
Was $999.99

Comments: This is a killer price for an RTX 4060 gaming laptop. I rated Lenovo’s LOQ series as the best budget gaming laptop in 2023, and so far I’ve seen no reason to change that opinion in 2024.

Dell G15 (2023)

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS

CPU: NVIDIA RTX 4060

RAM: 16GB DDR5-4800

Display: 15.6” 1920 × 1080 165Hz

SSD: 512GB

$849.99 at Dell
Save $250 (25%)
Was $1099.99

Comments: Oh look, another RTX 4060 gaming laptop! This one is $50 more than the LOQ, but a little nicer build quality in our opinion (though the LOQ has better software). Combined with a newer and faster Zen 4 processor, it’s worth stretching the budget a little further if you can.

Acer Helios 16 (2023)

GPU: Intel Core i9-13900HX

CPU: NVIDIA RTX 4080

RAM: 32GB DDR5

Display: 16” 2560 × 1600 240Hz

SSD: 1TB SSD

$1799 at B&H
Save $500 (22%)
Was $2299

Comments: This deal isn’t new like the others, but I wanted to draw some attention to it before it ends. We shared an Alienware m16 with RTX 4080 graphics last week for the same price (which is still on the deals site btw), but this is another well priced option.

From our testing, RTX 4080 laptop graphics offer a huge 55% FPS boost compared to the RTX 4070 at 1440p. The 4080 can really be worth it for a few hundred dollars more compared to a 4070 if you want to take things to the next level.

Video of the Week

It’s important to consider future upgrades when it comes to buying a gaming laptop, as future hardware changes are limited by the laptop you buy today.

I’ve shared everything I know on this topic in our most recent YouTube video – Check it out below 👇

Tip of the Week

You can save a lot of money buying a slightly older 2023 gaming laptop.

Most of the 2024 models released so far are basically the same as their 2023 versions, but more expensive.

Sure, they have the latest Intel 14th gen or AMD Ryzen 8000 processors. But at the end of the day, these changes offer little to no performance improvements. So why spend more?

This is why most of the deals we share are for 2023 models – the value just can’t be beaten.

2024 models are only worth considering if there’s a great deal (we’ll have it on our site), or if there is a nice improvement you really want, like an OLED screen or bigger battery, for example.

That said, I’m surprised we’ve got a 2024 model at the top of this week’s list. Granted, it’s using a last gen Zen 3+ processor, so the tech inside isn’t strictly 2024!

These are some nice deals – but sales change over time. Our https://gaminglaptop.deals website is updated multiple times a day, so check it out regularly to save money 🤑

Video of the Week

In this week’s laptop review we covered the best 16” gaming laptop of 2024 so far!

It’s Lenovo’s Legion 7i, which replaces their popular Legion Slim 7i from last year – But with some welcome improvements and a cheaper price tag. Check it out 👇

Tip of the Week

Make sure you unplug your laptop’s battery before performing any upgrades.

Sounds simple, right? Well, I admit it’s not something I usually bother with – changing a RAM stick or inserting a new SSD is a quick task.

But all it takes is a dropped screw on the wrong place of the motherboard for the whole thing to short out and die!

So don’t live dangerously, just unplug the battery.
