Configs to buy / avoid: Buy the RTX 5060 config with the Core i7-14650HX, 16GB or more RAM and 1920x1200 165Hz screen because it gives excellent performance for a mid-range gaming laptop. RTX 5050 version is only worth considering if its more than 20% cheaper than the 5060. Be careful with the 2560x1600 screen because the RTX 5060 and 5070's 8GB VRAM can become a bigger limit at higher resolution. Testing notes: The TUF F16 delivered the best RTX 5060 gaming results we've tested, the keyboard stayed cool to the touch, a sub-4ms screen response time is much faster than most competing laptops, and it has Advanced Optimus, G-Sync, two RAM slots, two M.2 slots, upgradeable Wi-Fi, and good Linux support. Trade-offs: The main compromises were loud turbo mode fans, a dim 300 nit 1920x1200 screen, a thicker chassis, a large 280W charger, lower-end Realtek Wi-Fi, bad LatencyMon results (poor DPC latency), and average battery life. Alternatives: If you want a better screen, quieter fans, more CPU performance, more battery life, and better portability, consider the Lenovo Legion 5i, which we strongly think is worth paying a little extra for when sale prices are close.
