ASUS Zephyrus G16 (2025)

Our take: The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 (2025) is a clear buy if you want a premium, thin and light 16-inch gaming laptop with good performance, excellent battery life, a beautiful OLED screen, and the best speakers in any gaming laptop we've tested.
Best for buyers who want a laptop with decent power that they can actually carry. Skip it if you care more about FPS per dollar, RAM upgrades, Ethernet, or BIOS tuning
Configs to buy / avoid: Strongly consider 32GB RAM if available as it's soldered and can never be upgraded, unless 16GB is heavily discounted. The RTX 5070 Ti is a great sweet spot due to its 12GB VRAM, but 5070 & 5060 are still great gaming devices. Avoid spending more for the RTX 5090 unless you specifically need the extra VRAM or don't care about price.
Testing notes: In our testing, the Zephyrus G16 lasted just over 11 hours in our YouTube video playback test on battery power, it has a fast sub-1ms OLED response time, great RTX 5070 Ti gaming performance for its size, fast Wi-Fi 7, a fast SD card reader, and two M.2 storage slots.
Trade-offs: The main compromises were soldered RAM, lower GPU power than thicker/cheaper laptops, louder fans compared to last gen, no ethernet, minimal BIOS options and weak Linux support.
Alternatives: If you want more performance, customization, and upgrade options, but at the expense of a thicker laptop, consider the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i instead. If you're happy spending more for a thinner model, it does not get better than the Zephyrus series.
