Comments: I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – any time a gaming laptop with RTX 4070 graphics hits $1000, it’s a great deal.
Yes, HP’s Victus series is on the more budget friendly end of the spectrum, but these are still some great specs for the dollar.
We’ve actually got MSI’s Katana 15 with same CPU, GPU, RAM but larger SSD listed for the exact same price at Micro Center – But not everyone has one of those in range and they don’t always offer shipping, so we didn’t prioritize it over the more easily accessible Victus.
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4090
RAM: 32GB DDR5-5200
Display: 16” 2560 × 1600 240Hz

Comments: This is the lowest price we’ve ever seen on Lenovo’s Legion Pro 7 with RTX 4090 graphics – down an extra $50 from a few weeks ago!
If you’ve been looking for a gaming laptop with maxed out performance, then this might be it.
The deal has been up for a few days, and Lenovo discount codes usually don’t last too long, so this sale may not stick around for much longer.
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4060
RAM: 16GB LPDDR5X-6400
Display: 14.5” 2880 × 1800 120Hz OLED
SSD: 1TB
$1139.99 at Lenovo
Save $650 (20%)
Was $1789.99
Use Coupon Code: EXTRAFIVE
Comments: This isn’t the cheapest we’ve seen this laptop go for, but if you can’t hold out a couple more months for Black Friday then this is still a decent price on one of the best 14” gaming laptops out there.
But if your goal is just RTX 4060 performance for the lowest price possible, then Lenovo’s cheaper LOQ that we shared last week is still available for $799.99.

Tip of the Week – Picking a Laptop Screen
Here are the top 5 things to consider when it comes to picking a gaming laptop screen:
Brightness: Consider 300 nits a baseline for indoor use. Brighter is better, 500 nits costs more, but is much nicer to look at. If you want super bright, say 1000+ nits, then you’ll need to consider a more expensive laptop with Mini-LED panel.
Refresh rate: At least 144Hz for gaming is ideal, again higher is better as this allows gameplay to appear smoother.
Response time: The lower the result, the better. Anything 5ms or below is great, 5ms – 10ms is decent, 10ms – 20ms is ok, but slower than 20ms and fast paced movement looks blurry.
Color gamut: 90%+ of sRGB coverage is a solid starting point for gamers. Cheaper panels may list 45% NTSC, which is quite low. You can still use them fine, play games and have a good time, colors just don’t pop and look dull. Aim for 100% DCI-P3 for best results, or if doing content creation work.
Resolution: 1440p is a great sweet spot, and needs RTX 4060-4070 graphics to power. 4K doesn’t make sense for gaming unless you’ve got excess money and are buying an RTX 4080+ laptop. 1080p is perfectly adequate for low to mid range, especially at 14-16”, but for 17-18” it’s easier to see the pixels, so more is better as long as you’ve got the GPU power.
Unfortunately many of these aspects may not listed on a laptop’s spec sheet, and if they are, response times in particular are often misleading.
