Configs to buy / avoid: Buy the RTX 5080 config on sale because it should get most of the Scar 16 experience without the full RTX 5090 price hit, unless you want the extra VRAM and GPU performance and can justify the high price tag. Testing notes: The Scar 16 delivered very impressive CPU performance, both with and without the charger connected, top-tier RTX 5090 gaming performance, cool keyboard temps, reasonable fan noise for the power, tool-less RAM and SSD access, Thunderbolt 5, Advanced Optimus, G-Sync, and a bright Mini-LED screen around 1200 nits. Trade-offs: The main compromises were high pricing, heavy weight for a 16 inch laptop, average battery life, faster battery drain while asleep, left-heavy port placement, no rear ports, no Type-C on the right, and Mini-LED blooming.
