Configs to buy / avoid: If budget allows, buy with 32GB RAM, as memory is soldered and can never be upgraded, this will provide better longevity in a device you'll be using for years. The RTX 5060 and 5070 GPU configurations both deliver similar performance to bigger 16" laptops, owing to the high power limits the smaller 14" Blade allows. Testing notes: The Blade 14 delivered excellent CNC aluminum build quality, strong RTX 5070 performance for its size, great battery life, reasonable thermals, lower fan noise than most gaming laptops, a fast OLED screen, Advanced Optimus, G-Sync, fast MicroSD, and excellent Linux support. Trade-offs: The main compromises are high pricing, soldered RAM, only one M.2 slot, 8GB VRAM on the RTX 5070, no VR over USB-C, basic BIOS options and Synapse lighting quirks after boot. Alternatives: The ASUS Zephyrus G14 with higher tier RTX 5070 Ti graphics and 12GB VRAM often goes on sale for less than the Blade 14, making the G14 the no-brainer choice, as it's better in most regards.
